Soil Aeration and Excavation

Compaction is the greatest enemy most trees face in the landscape.  Most disease and insect infestations are a direct result of chronic compaction issues.  Over-mulching is largely responsible for the lack of long- term success of many young trees.  “Volcano” mulching, the piling of mulch up the trunk of a tree, is also a huge contributor to decline in mature trees as well.  We use the revolutionary AIR-SPADE® that produces a supersonic air stream to quickly blow apart compacted soils and excess mulch to restore soil quality.  Once the natural processes return, trees are quick to recover and maintain their health.  Compressed air is also tremendously useful in safely excavating the root collar of trees.  We can reveal problem areas otherwise hidden to us.  Girdling roots, and root rot are excellent examples of serious issues we can diagnose with compressed air and then repair.
